About Training    
 Objective

Training falls within the scope of Maritime Economics and related issues. It is of a technical nature, which highlights the theoretical and practical aspects of the business. The main objectives are:

 

To develop Students' knowledge so that they can understand the behaviour of Maritime Economics;

 

To promote Students' professional development by updating their global knowledge and emphasizing their practial knowledge about a variety of important topics;

  To explore new areas of interest; and
 

To improve the necessary skills and competencies that contribute to Students' professional development.

Training specific objectives are associated to the objectives of each Training Action. They aim at developing each Student's professional skills and competencies within the scope of the Training Action being delivered.

Training will be updated in accordance with the feedback received so that it meets market needs.

 Target Audience

The Actions target all players and people interested in Maritime Economics and related issues.

This target audience includes Importers / Exporters, Shippers, Shipping Companies, Vessel Operators, Shipping Agents, Freight Forwarders, Supply Chain Managers, 3PLs, Port Authorities, Port Terminal Operators, International and/or Intermodal Transport Companies, Maritime Lawyers, Consultants among other interested parties.

 Training Actions
The training to be delivered is wide in scope, and therefore the proposed actions emphasise the importance of Maritime Economics and consequently of Maritime Transport. This vision aims to integrate the activities performed in this industry within the scope of the economic activites that originate the flows of goods traded regionally and internationally.

Therefore, for each Action, specific contents are developed to allow Students to obtain synergies at knowledge level.

 Registration

Registration for each Action to be performed through the Online Registration Form. Students need to provide the information requested, within the time frame allowed for each Action. Priority is given to registrations entrance order.

Registration will only be valid, only after we have verified that payment has been performed and confirm Students / Institutions in writing. If we do not provide any feedback within the 48 hours timeframe, please send an email to Ana Casaca.
The submission of the Online Registration Form implies that Students accept the conditions foreeseen for each Training Action.

 Registration Conditions

To participate in the Training Actions there are no requested precedences, unless such is stated in the Training Action Sheet; however, the Student's profile needs to be aligned with the contents of the Training Action.

Payment of the Action must be done after the Registration has been confirmed.

The Students and the Institutions responsible for the registration must:

 

Meet the Registration deadlines;

 

Respect fully the filling criteria of the Online Registration Form;

 

Agree with the objectives and contents of the Action.

Training will take place subject to a minimum number of Students, which is indicated in the Training Action Sheet.

 Cancellations
Students and / or Institutions have the right to cancel the Registration.
However, a penalty of 50% of the Action Registration Fee applies for the compensation of damages incurred from dropouts after the registration deadline.

 Participation Conditions
The participation in the Training Action requires :
  The payment of the Action Registration Fee.
 

An attendace of at least 85% of the Action duration to receive the Training Action Participation Certificate.

 Guarantee of Training Action Realisation

We guarantee the realisation of the Training Action in the foreseen dates, except in cases of force majeure.

In case of Cancellation of the Training Action, we guarante the return of the full amount charged.

In case of Postponement, we guarantee to transfer the full amount charged to another Registration in case Students / Institutions agree with that transfer.

 Documentation
Students will receive all documentation and supporting material in the begining or during the Action, depending upon the type of Action.
In the end of the Action, Students receive a Training Action Participation Certificate as long as their attendance is not below 85% of the Action duration.

 Training Action Fees

Training Actions Fees vary in accordance with their contents and duration. The fees charged imply that Students:

 

Attent the Actions on the basis of their publicised announcements;

 

Have access to the Training Action documentation; and

 

Receive a Training Action Participation Certificate as long as their attendance is not below 85% of the Action duration.

 

The fees charged do not include any expenses allocated to Students travelling and/or accommodation and/or meals.

The non-fulfilment of the payment within the expected deadline implies the Cancellation of the Registration.

 Payment Methods
The following Payment Methods are available:
 
  1) BANK TRANSFER,
  2) PayPAL,
  3) WESTERN UNION.
 
Please note that charges apply for each of the above Payment Methods and are not included in the Training Action Fee.
The final amount to be transferred by using any of these methods is the total amount calculated (Training Action Fee + Applied Charges).
For all payment methods, the Registration will only be valid after we verify the amount paid and confirm to Students / Institutions in writing.
The charges applied for each of Payment Method are as follows:
 
BANK TRANSFER
In case payment is made by Bank Transfer, the full charges (applied by Bank of Origin + Destination Bank) are the responsibility of Students / Institutions and will be paid at origin. They apply to all national and international bank transfers.
If this is the option, Bank account details will be forward by email.
  Please make sure that the names of the Student and of the Institution are clearly indicated as well as the name of the Training Action.
  Please notify Ana Casaca that the bank transfer has been carried out and attach a copy of the bank transfer receipt.
 
PayPAL
In case payment is made by PayPAL, we will add charges to the invoice to be sent to you by email since these depend upon the country of origin. The following charges apply:
  For the EU and EEA Countries (Norway, Iceland and Lichenstein) the rate applied amounts to 3.4% of the total to be transferred plus a fixed rate of €0.35.
  For the remaining Countries, the rate applied amounts to 3.9% of the total to be transferred plus a fixed rate of €0.35.
Please perform the payment in EUROS to avoid an additional exchange rate tax of 2.5%.
 
WESTERN UNION
In case payment is made by Western Union, charges are the responsibility of Students / Institutions and will be paid at the origin. When this method is used:
  Make the transfer in the name of Ana Cristina Ferreira Castela Paixão Casaca, City: Lisboa, Country: Portugal.
  Please make sure that the names of the Student and of the Institution are clearly indicated as well as the name of the Training Action.
  Please notify Ana Casaca that your Western Union transfer has been carried out and send the Money Transfer Control Number (MTCN).

 Duration and Timetable
The duration of the training will be presented in the Training Action Sheet.

The Actions will normally occur from Monday to Friday in normal working hours.The following timetable applies:

  In the morning: 0900 - 1300 with half an hour for coffee break (0900 - 1045 / 1115 - 1300)
  In the afternoon: 1400 - 1800 with half an hour for coffee break (1400 - 1545 / 1615 - 1800)
