About Training    
 Overview

Training falls within the scope of Maritime Economics and related subjects. It is of a technical nature, which highlights the theoretical and practical aspects of the business. The main objectives are:

 

to develop Participants' knowledge so that they can understand the behaviour of Maritime Economics and related subjects;

 

to promote Participants' professional development by updating their global knowledge and emphasizing their practial knowledge about a variety of important topics;

  to explore new areas of interest; and
 

to improve the necessary skills and competencies that contribute to Participants' professional development.

 
Training specific objectives are associated to the objectives of each Course. They aim at developing each Participants's professional skills and competencies within the scope of the Course being delivered. Training will be updated in accordance with the feedback received so that it meets market needs.
 
The delivered training is wide in scope and comprehends an array courses, which emphasize the importance of Maritime Economics and consequently of Maritime Transport. Maritime Economics integrates a range of activities, which support the economic activites that originate the flows of goods traded regionally and internationally. The Training Plan comprehends Courses within the scope of Distribution Channels and Logistics, Maritime Economics, and Maritime and Logistics English. Training to be delivered online or in-class. For more information about the Courses delivered visit the Training Plan.

 Target Audience

The courses target all players and people interested in Maritime Economics and related issues. This target audience includes University Students, Importers / Exporters, Shippers, Shipping Companies, Vessel Operators, Shipping Agents, Freight Forwarders, Supply Chain Managers, 3PLs, Port Authorities, Port Terminal Operators, International and/or Intermodal Transport Companies, Maritime Lawyers, Consultants and other parties having specific interest in the subject matter.

 Registration
To participate in the several Courses there are no requested precedences, unless such is stated in the Course Presentation Sheet. However, the Participants' profile needs to be aligned with the contents of the Course. Course registration includes both enrollment and payment activities.
 

The enrollment for each Course is to be performed through the Online Registration Form. Participants need to provide the requested information, within the timeframe indicated in the Course Presentation Sheet. The submission of the Online Registration Form implies that Participants accept the conditions foreeseen for each Course.

 
Registration implies the Course payment. Payment must be done after the enrollment has been confirmed and within the timeframe indicated in the Course Presentation Sheet. Participants and/or Institutions responsible for the registration must:
 

meet the Enrollment and Payment deadlines;

 

respect fully the filling criteria of the Online Registration Form; and

 

agree with the objectives and contents of the Course.

 
Registration will only be valid, only after we have verified that payment has been performed and confirm Participants / Institutions in writing. If we do not provide any feedback within the 48 hours timeframe, please send an email to Ana Casaca. Priority is given to registrations entrance order.
 

The Course will take place subject to the number of Participants indicated in the Course Presentation Sheet.

 Cancellations
Participants and/or Institutions have the right to cancel the Registration. Further details about the Cancellation's' Policy can be found in the Course Presentation Sheet.

 Participation Conditions
The participation in the Course requires:
  the fulfilment of the Course enrollment procedures;
  the payment of the Course fee;
 

an attendance equal to or above 90% of the Course (this condition applies to both in-class and online class training);

  the realisation of the allocated tasks given that they are an integral part of the Course (this condition applies to everyone and to both in-class and online class training);
 

for online class training, Participants must have access to a computer with Internet connection, compatible operating systems, web browsers and an email account. Participants must also be familiar with the usage of a computer for sending/receiving emails or Internet searching.

 

All Participants who fulfill with the above conditions are eligible for a Course Participation Certificate.

 Guarantee of Course Realisation
The realisation of the Course in the foreseen dates is guaranteed, except in cases of force majeure. In case of Course Cancellation, we guarante the return of the full amount charged. In case of Course Postponement, we guarantee to transfer the full amount charged to another Registration in case Participants / Institutions agree with such transfer.

 Documentation and Recommended Reading
Participants will receive the corresponding Course documentation and supporting material in the begining or during the Course, depending upon the type of training. A list of recommended reading will be provided in the begining of each Course; this recommended reading is not included in the Course Fee.

 Course Fees

Course Fees vary in accordance with Course contents and duration. The fees charged imply that Participants:

 

attent the Course on the basis of its publicised announcements;

 

have access to the corresponding Course documentation and supporting material; and

 

receive a Course Participation Certificate as long as they have fulfilled with the Participation Conditions mentioned above.

 
The fees charged neither include the expenses allocated to Participants' travelling and/or accommodation and/or meals for in-class training nor the expenses allocated for fulfilling with the online class training requirements. Moreover, the list of recommended reading is not included in the Course Fee. The non-fulfilment of the payment within the expected deadline implies the Cancellation of the Registration.

 Payment Methods
Payment can be made by 1) BANK TRANSFER, 2) PayPAL or 3) WESTERN UNION. Please note that charges apply for each of the above Payment Methods and are not included in the Course Fee. The final amount to be transferred by using any of these methods is the total amount calculated (Course Fee + Applied Charges). For all payment methods, the Registration will only be valid after we verify the amount paid and confirm to Participants/Institutions in writing. The charges applied for each of Payment Method are presented below.
 
BANK TRANSFER
In case payment is made by Bank Transfer, the full charges (applied by Bank of Origin + Destination Bank) are the responsibility of Participants / Institutions and will be paid at origin. They apply to all national and international bank transfers.
If this is the option, Bank account details will be forward by email.
  Please make sure that the names of the Participant and of the Institution are clearly indicated as well as the name of the Course.
  Please notify Ana Casaca that the bank transfer has been carried out and attach a copy of the bank transfer receipt.
 
PayPAL
In case payment is made by PayPAL, we will add charges to the invoice to be sent to you by email since these depend upon the country of origin. The following charges apply:
  For the EU and EEA Countries (Norway, Iceland and Lichenstein) the rate applied amounts to 3.4% of the total to be transferred plus a fixed rate of €0.35.
  For the remaining Countries, the rate applied amounts to 3.9% of the total to be transferred plus a fixed rate of €0.35.
Please perform the payment in EUROS to avoid an additional exchange rate tax of 2.5%.
 
WESTERN UNION
In case payment is made by Western Union, charges are the responsibility of Participants / Institutions and will be paid at the origin. When this method is used:
  Make the transfer in the name of Ana Cristina Ferreira Castela Paixão Casaca, City: Lisboa, Country: Portugal.
  Please make sure that the names of the Participant and of the Institution are clearly indicated as well as the name of the Course.
  Please notify Ana Casaca that your Western Union transfer has been carried out and send the Money Transfer Control Number (MTCN).

 Duration and Timetable
Course duration and timetable will be presented in the Course Presentation Sheet. This depends upon the type of training.
